When you’re a busy, hard-working woman it can be hard to make time to cook breakfast, yet alone a healthy and filling breakfast at that. Many times you might settle for a bowl of cereal or a piece of fruit, which isn’t enough to sustain you until lunch. If maintaining a healthy and clean diet is your priority than eating the right foods for breakfast has to become part of your morning routine. Below are some of the food combinations that I eat for breakfast. These suggestions are sure to give you the right amount of energy you need to get through the day!
There are so many ways that you can make a breakfast wrap, but the way I choose to make mine is simple. I use three ingredients; eggs, chicken and tortillas. I prefer my tortilla to be a tad crunchy, so I add butter to it and place it in the skillet on top of the stove. Once the tortilla is toasted enough to your liking you can scramble your eggs. Typically, your chicken should already be pre-cooked that way all you have to do is heat it up. Once this is completed place your eggs and chicken and fold it into your tortilla. Bon appetite!
Wheat waffles, Eggs, Fruit + Turkey Bacon
This combo is my #1 choice when it comes to breakfast. The meal itself is only 535 calories if your fruit is a green apple and you eat two of the other food options listed.
PB Toast, Fruit + Sausage
Who doesn’t love peanut butter? It has protein and potassium, which are key to lowering the risk of high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease. Some of my fruit choices include an apple, watermelon, pineapple or melon. Each have the right amount of citrus in it, which is great for boosting your immune system.
Smoothie + Nature Valley Granola Bar
If you’re in a rush and absolutely don’t have time to cook anything make smoothies the night before to drink as you head out for work in the morning. My smoothies usually have spinach in it because of the iron it offers. Lastly, out of all the granola bars out there Nature Valley is my ultimate fave. You can create your own smoothie mix depending on your fruit and juice preferences.

Yesterday, I attended a Core Focused Yoga class in Discovery Green in Houston with my friends. I was hesitant at first because I often feel that I do not reap the benefits that yoga has to offer. I went to the class with an open-mind, however in order to learn a new type of yoga. Having my friends come with me made the experience worthwhile!
For those who are not familiar with Discovery Green in Houston I highly recommend you go to check it out. It’s basically a giant park downtown that offers various activities for you to participate in. Each activity is suitable for the whole family. Visit their website for a schedule of events and group meetings that they post daily.
Now, back to my yoga experience!
Make sure you have a yoga mat or even a towel to use during the class or you’ll have to purchase one. As class began we practiced deep breathing exercises to release any negative energy that we had. Having had a long day of work made this part was much needed for myself. The instructor quickly got into the different type of poses that we would be completing for the day, which took about a hour to complete. There were some poses that I wasn’t able to do as my body just wasn’t flexible enough to complete them. The class ended with us laying on our backs on our yoga mats and sinking into the ground. This exercise was intended to help us ultimately relax everything that we had worked prior to class starting. All in all I enjoyed my experience in the class and would definitely go again.
